History
Accelerated Payment Technologies™ (formerly known as CAM Commerce) has a rich history of more than 25 years in the point of sale (POS) software business. As a market leader, Accelerated pioneered the concept of a single integration point for payments in order to offer clients a robust and sophisticated front office solution. Accelerated's unique perspective and accumulated knowledge resulted in a best-in-class integrated payment processing application. As a result, Accelerated expanded its distribution channel to hundreds of other POS software providers, ISVs and developers demonstrating the industry’s appetite for an integrated payment solution.

In March 2010, Accelerated sold its POS software division and the corresponding CAM Commerce Solutions brand to Robertson Piper Software Group (RPSG). Accelerated continues its ownership of the integrated payment processing business and its broad network of POS distribution relationships including CAM Commerce Solutions. Leadership Team
Roy Banks, Chief Executive Officer
As CEO of Accelerated Payment Technologies, Mr. Banks has 20 years of experience in the high-tech software development, e-commerce, internet marketing and payment processing industries. He is responsible for strategic acquisition, driving organic growth and overseeing all of Accelerated’s operations. Most recently, Mr. Banks served as President of Authorize.Net, a leading provider of internet payment processing products and services. Under his direction, Authorize.Net successfully amassed more than 200,000 merchant customers and more than 5,000 distribution partners. Mr. Banks delivered more than a decade of 25-30% year over year revenue growth and $31B in annual volume. In 2007, he led the sale of Authorize.Net to Cybersource Corporation, a transaction valued at more than $660M. In 2005, Mr. Banks was elected to the Electronic Transaction Association (ETA) Board of Directors and currently serves as Secretary on the Executive Committee. Mr. Banks also proudly served five years in the United States Navy and holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Utah Valley University.
Kyle Pexton, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Pexton is a Certified Public Accountant with diverse experience in financial operations, business valuations, and M&A transactions. Prior to joining Accelerated, Mr. Pexton served as Vice President of Finance and Business Operations at Authorize.Net overseeing the company’s financial planning and analysis, accounting, and SEC regulatory compliance. Mr. Pexton also served as CFO of the Sundance Group, LLC, a holding company managing a diversified business and investment portfolio ranging from media, entertainment, retail, real estate, and hospitality. Mr. Pexton serves on the board of directors of Sundance Enterprises, Inc, and is active with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, serving on the Governing Council and various committees. Mr. Pexton holds a Bachelors of Science and Masters of Accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University.
Julie Counterman, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing
A payments industry veteran of 17 years, Ms. Counterman joined Accelerated in 2009 as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. She is charged with driving revenue growth through expanding market presence and market share. Ms. Counterman's organizational responsibility includes business development, channel partner management, merchant sales, marketing, and general management of the Henderson, NV facility. She has served in executive management roles with key industry players such as Harland, InterCept, Elavon (formerly NOVA) as well as start-up technology firms including Spectrum EBP and Recordant. Ms. Counterman brings extensive experience in merchant acquisition, payment processing, e-commerce, ACH, EFT, internet banking and bill pay, stored value and cash management. Ms. Counterman earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance from Illinois State University.
Robert Cortopassi, Senior Vice President of Product Development
Mr. Cortopassi is responsible for leading product development, product management, security, project management, partner integrations, installations operations and production operations of Accelerated's internal systems. Prior to his current role, Mr. Cortopassi spent nearly 15 years growing CAM Commerce Solutions from a small point-of-sale software provider to a leading technology ISO by enabling merchant payment acceptance through ISV channel development. Mr. Cortopassi's extensive experience includes networking, security, and software development in addition to a demonstrated successful sales record. Mr. Cortopassi currently serves on the Electronic Transaction Association's Risk & Fraud Management Committee and the PCI Security Standards Council's Scoping SIG. He is also an author of numerous publications and routinely speaks at trade associations and industry conventions.
Robyn Thompson, Vice President of Human Resources
Ms. Thompson serves as Vice President of Human Resources and joined Accelerated in 2008. She is responsible for developing the company's human resources strategy and full range of tools, policies and programs to enable business leaders and team members to create an exceptional employment experience. These services include talent management, compensation, performance management, team member and leadership development, organizational effectiveness, change management, diversity and inclusion. Over the last 10 years Ms. Thompson has served in executive and consulting human resources roles with WDE, eMachines, American Commercial Capital and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Ms. Thompson earned her Bachelor's degree from Oberlin College and holds a Masters in Communications from California State University, Fullerton.
Gregg Gumbinger, Vice President of Business Development
Mr. Gumbinger has more than 30 years of experience in the e-commerce, bankcard, and electronic payments industries. He is responsible for driving and implementing the company’s business development strategy, and works with an experienced team of business development professionals. Before joining Accelerated, Mr. Gumbinger served as Director of Business Development within the Strategic Partnership Group at First Data. He has also held executive and management roles in business development and strategic marketing with Assurz, Authorize.Net, Pay By Touch, FDMS and Visa USA. He is a board member of the Western States Acquirers Association and serves on the Electronic Transactions Association Education Committee.
Glenn Witt, Vice President of Integrations
Mr. Witt joined Accelerated in 1988 and assumed the role of Vice President of Sales Engineering and Integrations in February 2010. He supports growth through technical sales support for business development, managing partner POS integrations, driving functional design and compliance requirements. Mr. Witt has more than 10 years of experience in the payment processing industry and founded the integrated payments concept at CAM Commerce. He became the Director of Payment Processing in 2000 and was integral in driving the exceptional year over year partner and merchant growth Accelerated enjoys. Mr. Witt also has extensive POS sales knowledge having served as a regional sales manager for CAM Retail Management systems for 12 years.
Jenny Krull, Vice President of Customer Care
Ms. Krull is responsible for managing Customer Care operations and joined Accelerated in April 2010. Prior to joining Accelerated, Ms. Krull worked at CyberSource/Authorize.Net for approximately 10 years where she held various leadership positions in Customer Support and Product Management. From these experiences, Ms. Krull has developed a passion for exceeding the customer's needs and a deep understanding of what is required to deliver outstanding customer support.
Al Duggan, Vice President of Marketing
Mr. Duggan joined Accelerated Payment Technologies as Vice President of Marketing in March of 2010. In this position, he has responsibility for strategic marketing, public relations, branding and various sales support initiatives. Prior to joining Accelerated, Mr. Duggan served as Vice President of Marketing at Valutec Card Solutions, the nation's leading gift card supplier to small merchants. Mr. Duggan has more than 30 years of experience as a graphic designer, copywriter and web strategist; he has managed national advertising and package design projects for Coca-Cola, Ciba-Vision and Georgia-Pacific. Mr. Duggan has also served in executive roles at RealEstate.com, InterCept Payment Solutions and Mack-Solden Communications, an Atlanta-based advertising agency. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Iowa and an Associate’s in Journalism.
